Position: Sports Operations Manager

The $22 million redevelopment of the Bendigo Stadium will provide state of the art facilities, including a 4000 seat show court arena, new licensed café bar, and premier function spaces. The redevelopment will provide the Stadium with a 10 basketball court venue. This will be complimented by the existing hospitality facilities of a sports bar, 200 seat bistro, and gaming floor. The Bendigo Stadium is also the home of the Bendigo Braves and the Bendigo Spirit within the Basketball code, as well as the home of the Phantoms Volleyball Club.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Sports Division as the Sports Operations Manager. The Sports Operations Manager is responsible for the full operations of the WNBL Bendigo Spirit program, the SEABL Bendigo Braves Senior program, Wheelchair Basketball, Big V, and CBL.

Key standards of the role:

  • Accommodate player welfare across WNBL, SEABL, Big V, CBL through providing timely follow up to assist in their roles.
  • Build and maintain highly collaborative working relationships with all key stakeholders
  • To achieve mutually agreed financial budgets for specified senior programs
  • To oversee Game night to create an ultimate spectator experience through leveraging resources, partners, and volunteers
  • Co-ordination of Media releases for all sporting programs
  • Work effectively with peers and marketing team to establish a professionally well-organised club
  • Communicating effectively to all internal and external stakeholders, and to be able to demonstrate meeting timelines consistently
  • To play an influential role within the community to promote the overall brand in assistance with your peers
  •  Ability to forward plan to maximise PR opportunities, partnership building, and spectator value-add initiatives.

To be successful in the role, you will be able to communicate effectively to all relevant stakeholders including Board of Directors, Braves Committee, volunteers, coaches and players. Planning capabilities plays an integral role to ensure we are maximising all opportunities for the growth of Sport.

Position: General Manager of Sport

The redevelopment will provide the Stadium with a 10 basketball court venue. This will be complimented by the existing hospitality facilities of a sports bar, 200 seat bistro, and gaming floor. The Bendigo Stadium is also the home of the Bendigo Braves and the Bendigo Spirit within the Basketball code, as well as the home of the Phantoms Volleyball Club.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Executive Team as the General Manager of Sport. The General Manager of Sport is responsible for overseeing the management, co-ordination and administration of sports and competitions at the Bendigo Stadium. This will also include the development of Basketball through the Domestic Competition and overseeing the WNBL Bendigo Spirit program, the SEABL Bendigo Braves Senior program, and Braves Junior Programs. To have the ability to strategise the growth of sport, and to be able to network effectively with sports governing bodies will be essential.

Key standards of the role:

  • A leader of the organisation who drives a culture of ownership, collaboration, and people development
  • Build and maintain highly collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders including BBA, coaches, players, club delegates and officials.
  • To achieve mutually agreed financial budgets across the total sports division
  • Ability to develop and action strategic plans to create distinct pathways, including growing participation across all levels through brand awareness and community engagement
  • Network effectively with the sporting bodies and with the CoGB to secure state, national, and international events to the local community
  • Communicating effectively to all internal and external stakeholders, and to be able to demonstrate meeting timelines consistently
  • To be able to lead, mentor, and develop a team of six direct reports in which oversees sport and community involvement

To be successful in the role, you will have effective communicative skills, and planning capabilities to give clear direction for the Sports division. You will be people focused, using your highly developed verbal and written communication skills to communicate with our employees. Team work is a big part of what we do at the Bendigo Stadium, therefore you will be enthusiastic about building relationships and collaborating with team members across the organisation.

Tertiary qualifications in Sports Administration along with 3 years' experience is an advantage but not essential.
