QTEC – Quality Training and Education Centre offer this nationally accredited training program. It is suitable for people already working in the hospitality industry or those seeking employment in the hospitality industry.

This course deals with the skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines. The program is conducted at the Bendigo Stadium, one of regional Australia’s prime sporting, gaming and hospitality complexes. This is a unique opportunity to learn in a real hospitality environment as well as gaining a nationally recognised certificate.

Key topics covered:
• organisation of a coffee workstation
• selection and grinding of coffee beans
• advising customers on espresso beverages
• extracting and monitoring the quality of espresso coffee
• texturing milk
• serving espresso coffee beverages
• cleaning espresso equipment

At the completion of the course participants will be required to complete both a written and a practical assessment. Upon successful completion the participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Pre-requisites:
SITHXFSA101 Use hygienic practices for food safety (or equivalent)

Assessment
At the completion of the course participants will be required to complete both a written assessment and a practical assessment. Upon successful completion the participant will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Dress code:

Because time is spent in the bar and cafe area and dealing with customers, it is essential that participants are suitably attired. You are expected to wear neat black attire with covered in shoes.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for this unit. Refer to the Student Information page for further details about RPL.
The cost of RPL is the same as if you enrolled in and completed the unit.
